David Yazbeck Provides Support for Federal Accountability Initiative for Reform
October 9, 2009Federal Accountability Initiative for Reform (FAIR) is a Canadian organization which promotes integrity and accountability within government by empowering employees to speak out without fear of reprisal when they encounter wrongdoing. Its aim is to support legislation and management practices that will provide effective protection for whistleblowers and hence occupational free speech in the workplace.
Raven, Cameron, Ballantyne & Yazbeck - and David Yazbeck in particular - is among the leading counsel in the area of whistleblower law, having represented many high profile whistleblowers across Canada. As part of his commitment in this area, Mr. Yazbeck has provided and continues to provide pro bono assistance to FAIR, particularly in its recently announced Legal Analysis Project 2009. This project, undertaken with the assistance of Carleton student interns Stephanie Della Porta and Jade Kemp, is intended to extend FAIR's already broad analysis of Federal whistleblower protection to that which exists (or does not exist) elsewhere in Canada. FAIR recently acknowledged Mr. Yazbeck's contributions in a newsletter to FAIR followers.
